In a musical climate where attitude has long overshadowed talent, Tall Dark Stranger's soaring harmonies, playing ability, and insightful lyrics are a reminder of what makes rock music great. Their sound blends elements of Todd Rundgren, The Rolling Stones, Prince, and Fleetwood Mac, creating a mixture that is equally fresh and familiar.

Tall Dark Stranger was started by singer/writer Dee Allen. The son of Oak Ridge Boy Duane Allen, Dee was no stranger to performing. His resume includes a stint as the Oaks' baritone singer in 1995, and singing backup on their TNN show, Live From Las Vegas. For years, Allen had been recording demos in his home studio and playing solo in Nashville clubs. He found that without the harmonies and other instruments to fill out the sound, his live performances didn't have the impact that his recordings did.

1998: Allen decided the only way to properly communicate his ideas was to assemble a band who shared his passion for songcraft and harmony. His first two recruits were singer Will Allen and drummer David Younger. They built a foundation of 3-part harmony which became the core of their sound. Once bass and lead guitar were added, Tall Dark Stranger made their presence known in Nashville with a 3-year run of club shows, acoustic showcases, songwriter's festivals, and internet broadcasts. They garnered rave reviews and featured spots on websites like IUMA, Garageband, AMP3, and Audiogalaxy.

Tall Dark Stranger's newest project, The Opposite Of Game, shows a band newly focused. Says Allen, "The rockers are louder, the ballads are prettier, and taken as a whole, it paints a vivid picture of what it's felt like inside my head for the last couple of years."  While retaining TDS' usual inventiveness and sophistication, Opposite reveals a lyrical honesty rarely seen in this age of cynicism.  This is intelligent, melodic rock music, evoking KISS one minute and Talking Heads the next, and blessedly free of the mind-numbing formulas that have drained all the joy out of radio.  This is a band on a crusade for the redemption of pop music. Is talent passe? Is rock 'n roll dead? Not as long as Tall Dark Stranger is on the job.
